Year R class

 Welcome to our class page!

Our class email if you have any questions or queries or would like to let us know of any wow moments from home is:

This week we have been consolidating the letter sounds

 i  n  m  d       and      s  a  t  p

Over the half term holiday perhaps you can see how many things you can spot that begin with these sounds and practise writing them.  You could write them using a stick in the mud or in the bubbles in the bath or in the sand at the beach!

In our number work we listened to the story of Tiger 10!

We drew 10 whiskers on Tiger Ten, 5 on one side and 5 on the other!

Perhaps you can practise writing  numbers to ten at home and collect ten objects or you could play ten pin bowling and see how many objects you can knock down!

We had an exciting discovery this week! When we watched some clips from the camera on our hedgehog house we saw a hedgehog!!

Here are two video clips of our new Reception resident…..

To decide on a name for the hedgehog we wrote each child’s suggestion on a piece of paper and put them all in a hat.  Mrs. Roberts picked one out and the name chosen is Rosie!

We hope that Rosie decides to hibernate in the hedgehog house and stays safe and warm for the winter.

We had fun this week in our PE lesson.  We rotated around a circuit of three activities:

Bouncing and catching a ball, step-ups on a bench and exercises such as star jumps and press-ups!  Everyone did very well and we got our hearts pumping very fast!

We have two lovely but quite large raised beds in our outside area which are almost empty at the moment. We would love to get planting but we need some soil to fill them up!  If anyone has some spare soil or knows of anyone who has some top soil we could have please let me know via our class email.  Thank you!

The MERIT certificate for this half term goes to…

Edikan.   Well done!!

PE is every week on a Tuesday. Please could your child come to school in their PE kit.

We would like to say a huge well done to all the children (and parents!) for completing the first half term at school.  We are so proud of how the children have settled in, made friends and embraced their learning!

We wish you all a safe and relaxing half term holiday and we look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday 2nd November.
